It’s sad and frustrating, but understandable at the same time. The only saving grace is he won’t have to be without Mom so long. They were married for 58 1/2 years, and were each other’s best friend. Proof of true love if there ever was.

He’s in a home, now, and on hospice. He flips between “This place is Heaven,” and, “It’s Hell on Earth,” sometimes multiple times a day. His entire reality hinges on his mood at the moment. It’s similar to dealing with a toddler who is convinced he’s the smartest person in the room.

Two days after Mom passed, Dad went to the ER with chest pains and shortness of breath… an X-ray of his chest showed stage 3A lung cancer, later confirmed by biopsy and further tests as highly aggressive, Stage 4 Terminal Cancer. We’ve since learned he has at least 3 big tumors in his brain.

Every time we scheduled a trip to go get it, something came up to postpone it… multiple illnesses, including a bout of Covid for us, reroofing Dad’s house, and buying a new car at the end of July… Mom went into the hospital the day we signed the paperwork, and died 4 days later.
