It's not of like screaming into the void. If you find it helps then hey go for it. The internet and world are most likely way stranger than anything you'd say 🤷🏾‍♂️

I understand you completely, this also describes me partially. I couldn't sleep from November last year to late April. But thankfully sleeping better ATM. Wishing you the same break!

This can often be related to a mixed episode or hypomania

Smart that sounds horrifying to deal with other wise

The one that amuses me the most is sometimes I mix up my current address (newish) with my previous one. Recently I had to update a bunch of govt stuff and you can imagine the hoot that was ...

I've developed a few weird neurological quirks as I am ageing. For some reason I always open the fridge (not the freezer) everytime I want ice for example 😂

Most patients react negatively to majority of bipolar medication. While lithium is still the gold standard (and rightly so) most are not able to tolerate the side effects at a therapeutic dosage

There can be cognitive side effects, however the extent of it is very individual. One also has to remind oneself that even if cognitive challenges are present but one is responding well to the dosage then it might be an acceptable trade off.

Your mom is amazing for this. No one is perfect but family and social support are fundamental for serving as a bipolar adult.

oof that hit home.

Lithium remains the gold standard due to its efficacy rate, and modern research has shown Lithium to have some neural hardening or protective properties against dementia etc.

Hi and welcome. I am bipolar and a mood disorder researcher. From both personal experience and research I can confidently say that if you respond positively to lithium as a unitherapy for your BP that'd be great. 1/2

Her words of healing have spent many years buried in my heart.

I understand your frustration completely. However I think the outcome of all the effort wasn't zero, you affirmed that you can do it.

As the daylight recedes faster bipolar or circadian dysregulation goes into what a we call "phase delay" leading to depression. The opposite happens in fall and mania is more typical. As are suicides. So stay warm and hug a friend or yourself ❤️

Hypomania can be as slight as waking up and feeling good. After a period of depression hypomania often gets underreported because why would you report that you are actually feeling a little high and happy?

Is that you Niles (in the voice of Kelsey Grammer)?

As a mood disorder researcher this article is hog shit. The article is mixing up active mechanism pathways vs root cause. Pretty much everyone agrees metabolic health is a key factor in mental health but I don't no anyone who will confidently make state they know root cause of BP.

Hi auditory or visual hallucinations are common for some with mood disorders combined with age, genetics etc. Typically with these pathology vectors there's grey matter loss, often around the audio visual receptor cells.

Do you know the song "I hate my way" by Kirstin Hersch. If not I recommend a listen. It's an ode to her own bipolarity.

Hi friend I work on mental health research and what you're suggesting is no longer that controversial as we're learning about that shared mechanisms and genetics between diagnoses that would have been considered an isolated pathology
