I jumped in against a complaint of "TODOs are useless and never get fixed" recently, but going through our git history surprised even me for how well we did actually getting back to things. The running total count mostly tracked "inflation" as the codebase grew, with high churn on individual TODOs.

I'd note "people write best in different ways" doesn't mean "people intuitively know how they write best". For years I figured a regular schedule wasn't for me, but 3 years ago I started writing daily and haven't stopped since. Same deal with outlining. Don't trick yourself out of trying new things.

You eventually hit a cap on the total length of a single chapter's text at half a million characters. But that would typically be closer to 100k words than 50k words, depending on how fond you are of shorter/longer words. There are already several >100k word oneshots on AO3, and thousands with >50k.
