After the cast alloy tailpiece failed on my Eastman mandolin, the company very promptly sent me a replacement part. Now the replacement has also broken (a notoriously common failure) I've resorted to a cheap imported one.
Great mandolins, great customer service, ridiculously shit tailpieces.

I really only started to remember and recognise Kanji once I concentrated on learning them as I learned new words and sentences.

So a literal translation* of 動物園 which spells "zoo" in Japanese could be "move-thing park". 動物 is "animal" or "move-thing"!
It's so different to English. So many things seem funny or silly when really they're just unfamiliar. I love it.
