That may well be the case. But one needs to consider huge human resources that Russia has and its readiness to send its troops to the meat grinder attacks. Think how many ppl Finland is ready to lay down in this conflict. It will have to even if the enemy is as inefficient as Russia.

I understand how you feel. Russia or putin for that matter is not my favourite either. But the military force is uncomparable. The army of Finland is 180k at most. Russia is still a formidable foe. Not to be underestimated.

I do not think they plan to fight Finland, at least in the near term. Even Putin is not that suicidal. It may directed against the Baltic states. Rumours abide of the proxy warfare against Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. According to them, military force may be the last resort.

I have a strong feeling Trump envies dictators like Putin, Xi or Kim. He looks at them and sees how easy it can be to rule people when you have no checks and balances in place and get rich in the process.

I doubt Trump had anything to do with it. But Putin did plan for it. The annexation of Crimea was the first step. Some sources claim he felt not ready to invade Ukraine full force at that time. However, now Trump tries to squeeze some money/opportunity out of this situation. Very cynical of him.
