honestly.... i imagine sonic taking the lead early on given his proclivity to rile shadow up and toy with him…. sonic tries to see just how much he can push shadow’s buttons while (likely unconsciously) wanting to break through his stoic outer walls to see what no one else can. also sonic just lives in the moment and i could for sure see him just making a move on shadow randomly out of nowhere without really thinking about it. plus shadow—even if he is (unconsciously) obsessed with sonic—wouldn’t be able to initiate anything because of his pride, avoidant attachment style, and overall lack of knowledge/experience when it comes to interpersonal communication (also he would never want to admit that he needs sonic lmao). given his forced accelerated development, you could say he has an innocent emotional immaturity that—along with his other characteristics—make it difficult for him to fully acknowledge his (true) feelings let alone act on them. shadow for sure detests being teased and pushed down by sonic, but deep down he can’t deny that this type of intimacy with his one true obsession rival is satisfying and addicting in a strange way. a closeness and a magnetic pull that he’s only known in one other instance (maria) but after sonic makes a move, i think it would light a fire in shadow (“me? the ultimate lifeform being overcome by him?”) that leads to him wanting to see sonic rendered vulnerable by his own hands. give him a taste of his own medicine and see how he likes it. test just how far he can take it to break down his usual composure. then shadow ends up really liking it because now he's in his rightful place as #1. plus he can see sonic without his usual cheeky grin. it feels good to finally put that faker in check but also.......for the both i can imagine them as trying to still gain the upper hand even if the other one pushes them down. neither of them can truly back down. sonic is a champ power bottom and loves pushing the boundaries by seeing how much he can tease shadow before he tries to regain the advantage. in the same vein shadow tries to throw sonic’s dominance off by riling him up and doing the unexpected ummmm anyways shorter version of this is that their relationship is something that really can’t be defined in traditional terms (obviously) but. basically i see them as switches that are constantly fighting for the upper hand in the relationship but both also secretly enjoy being dominated by the other. maybe they do stupid shit like play rock paper scissors to decide who tops but then get into a tussle about it after the loser refuses defeat. i want them to kiss and then violently kill each other. weird toxic doomed yaoi < 3 (i think i kiiiinda of have a soft spot for bottom shadow tho because i’m a pervert and love seeing the so-called ultimate lifeform rendered defenseless melting under sonic’s hand) i'm so sorry i'm just throwing sonadow spaghetti at the wall and this is probably incomprehensible but
