This series really does have some of the most broken, pathetic characters you'll ever meet. I love that, but I wish it did a little more with them.

Spaghetti all'Assassina cooking in a large pan. Spaghetti noodles sitting in a pan with cloves of garlic in a red broth that's being reduced for a few minutes before the noodles are flipped and more broth is added, allowing them to burn as they cook risotto style. I've been into Phantasy Star lately so the CASTs come to mind, but I think you're already familiar with them. You might also like AutoReivs from Ergo Proxy. In appearance they range from very doll-like with static mask-like faces to indistinguishable from human.
