Yes, another perfect example! I feel like BL is full of demi-representation. The trope "I'm not gay, I just love this specific person who happens to also be same sex/gender as me" is my favorite. Probably why I like quick transmigration with 1v1 so much, and gaming BL.

As demi myself, I feel Xie Lian is canonically demi. In the cave of ten thousand gods his friends were creeped out, but Xie Lian was smitten. That's the moment I realized he was demi. In general their relationship is all about the emotional development, which leads to attraction for Xie Lian.

Crunchyroll has season 1 of the donghua (Animated adaptation). The romance is censored, but I definitely felt they were a couple before confirming it was BL. I haven't read it, but enjoyed the donghua.

I'm so sorry and sadly, relatable. My mom told me I had a certain blood type as a kid, but in my 20s I found out I had a totally different blood type. When I told my mom she flat out said that there's no way she was wrong all these years.
