Well this is funny for a different reason. EA is an outlier in that it's a well run company that offers workers better benefits relative to industry, but gamers hate them because they dislike the business models that enable these exact qualities.

Ya, that is one of the works I've actually read on the topic. I was less of a fan as they come off as very interpretative and eclectic (the author makes references all over to Heidegger and other philosophers in attempt to connect different concepts. there was also some weird west-east thing?)

It for sure sounds in that direction, thanks a lot! I always found it lacking that there's a niche for celebrating the useful discoveries, but not much discussion on the harmful entrenchments (the discourse on Schizophrenia comes to mind)

Thanks for this as well. If you don't mind, are you familiar with any *negative* takedown of the results of the Macy conferences/offshoots? I was always interested in a commentary that tries to make sense of when these strands were helpful for a discipline, and when (catastrophically) the opposite

Interesting idea. I've always understood the Macy conferences, cybernetics etc. as being downstream of new approaches and discoveries in psychiatry/neuroscience (Ross Ashby, Sturgis McCulloch etc.), namely neural networks as circuits, less so with engineering per se.

Out of curiosity, where is the one month figure coming from? AFAIK, there is no set amount of time they're going to spend in jail. Most objectors eventually release for "health reasons" ("profile 21") based on occasional psychological evaluations. Otherwise, they may be subjected to a lot longer

Sorry, I could've phrased this better. Specifically, my argument is that the jews "learning from the Holocaust" relies on a rhetorical move where the experience of survivors is somehow generalized to the world jewry, which connects (and only makes sense) to a conspiracist view of a universalist jew
