i have an approximate knowledge of many things
I see you also make music, have you done any of it on Bluefin?? I've been trying to figure out a workflow for it and I'm curious

The reason for it is because an underlying software, bootc, was a project owned by red hat until recently, so a lot of development in that space revolves around fedora.

github.com/bootc-dev/bo...

Basically it implies significantly less work to maintain compared to a distro like Linux Mint

Valorant doesn't run in a VM since running a virtual machine trips Vanguard, you'll need a dual boot unfortunately :(

Reboot with nvme ssd is like 30 seconds of time or less, you can decide if you mind it

Unless they need highly specialized software, my first choice would be Bluefin. I gifted an older Thinkpad (6th gen i5, 8 GB ram) to a friend as a general-purpose laptop and with Bluefin it just works. He's never used Linux, It's been 9 months and he's only messaged me like twice.

That guide doesn't require disabling the read-only filesystem on the Steam Deck, if that's all you did you're chillin

Config files (like that one) stay intact between updates, while packages installed via CLI on the Steam Deck get removed when there's updates to it in SteamOS, it's a headache haha

I should mention that popular tools like RetroDeck or EmuDeck and Decky plugin loader work with it as well.

Features like the additional hardware enablement, support for printers, multiple options for your Desktop Environment, easily accessed script for Waydroid (Android apps),and layering software while keeping the root system immutable make Bazzite more versatile. Also works on other handheld PCs :)

Idk what kind of code you found to enable it but as long as it didn't require disabling SteamOS's read-only mode to install a package then you're good, SteamOS is perfectly good.

Bazzite (in regards to the Steam Deck) is really good if you need more general-purpose functionality from the device.

For people more comfortable with installing a different OS on the Steam Deck there's one called Bazzite (bazzite.gg) which includes out of the box hardware enablement for the gamecube controller. i
It's a near identical user experience to SteamOS with some differences under the hood, it's good :)
