I think most of the criticism is due to the low ridership of both lines relative to their locations. A suburban bus route has fewer riders, but the streetcars serve some of the densest neighborhoods in WA. Also, there is a ton of overhead costs that are hard to justify given the low ridership.

WILSON LEADS FOR THE FIRST TIME ALL ELECTION!

It's neck and neck heading into the final count! She leads by 91 votes!

Only about 10,000 ballots remain, per reporting from @kromandavid.bsky.social. Cured ballots from the weekend will be counted tomorrow.

The odds of a “cooperative SDOT” are looking better after today. We need @edclin.bsky.social to be a strong champion for changes on MLK, but I doubt we’ll see real progress unless SDOT/Mayor are onboard. We’ve seen the direct impact that the Mayor can have on projects (LWB).

Are you proposing keeping arterials at 25 even next to parks, etc or would arterials drop to 20 near parks, etc (like all day school zones)?

Why not 20mph on all streets?

Also, let’s get rid of multiple general traffic lanes (in the same direction) on a road. When a road “needs” two lanes, it really needs more efficient transportation infrastructure (PBLs, bus lanes).

It is incredible that Route 8 is one of the most productive routes in the network because it has to deal with traffic on Denny and most of the ridership is on the east-west half of the route. seattletransitblog.com/2024/11/19/r...
Ridership Patterns for King County Metro Route 8

I walked by a few minutes ago (on my way to Wilson’s party) and there were about 30 people at his party.

Based on how many people turn left, you wouldn’t know that (as I didn’t). They should have extended the median further south or just closed the driveway altogether.
