I have the same thought experiment about 2016. Not only would we never of had a day of Mango Mussolini we would have a progressive SCOTUS and every miserable decision made by the corrupt 6 would be gone. With the big one being Dobbs

Two other reasons. Either Trump has been assured by Thune it will absolutely not clear the Senate or by Bondi that the files have been successfully redacted and cleansed of any mention of him.

Nothing to hide BUT on his orders do not swear in the new Democratic member, put extreme pressure on members to remove their names from discharge petition, Thune says he doubts he will hold vote in Senate. If it passes both chambers Trump won’t sign it. But nothing to hide.

I believe it is two fold. The Epstein files and Trump’s mandate to refuse to negotiate an end to the shutdown. I could be wrong ( probably am) but I think every government shutdown was ended by negotiation and compromise. Trump has told his little minion Mikey to not allow any negotiation
