Who ranked Brenda? She only got 767 first round votes but was ranked on 10,200 ballots. Frey was the most common first choice for those who dared to dream

Frey dominates among people writing in random names. The most common ballot including at least one undeclared write-in (UWI) was: "Frey, UWI, UWI."

"You will receive a ... survey regarding the technologies that you use at the University of Minnesota, including your perspective on generative artificial intelligence in higher education"

Fateh needed to net almost 15k more 2nd/3rd choice votes than Frey to beat him, and he got less than half that (6484 more than Frey). Frey wins with just over 50% of votes cast :-(

She's technically opposed by crank candidate Bob Again. I kinda like @taylordahlin.com 's idea of ranking him, maybe behind a write in first choice

New bike day! It doesn't count as an additional bike if I found one with the same color scheme as one of my other bikes, right?

What the fuck is this official MN DFL mailer showing a seemingly random selection of endorsed candidates? Only one of 3 at large parks endorsees, and Bob Fine but not Steve Brandt? Is the DFL just trolling us at this point?

It's progressive PAC lit day over here. Great mayoral mailers from @mplsforthemany.com and working people's project, and a parks flier from working america

Would a *socialist* get an $8 drink at the corn maze??? Checkmate, leftists
October 25, 2025 at 10:22 PM
Down a couple percent but not 8%. I think the 2024 total here includes the whole year, so the 2024 YTD is probably more like 5.0MW vs 4.8 this year

Good news! @jchavezmpls.bsky.social pointed out I got the tabulation wrong here and Davis would in fact be the winner in my scenario according to Mpls RCV procedure
October 25, 2025 at 2:30 PM
I am still trying to work this out but getting stuck on the difference between "votes that could possibly be transferred" in the first definition here and "sum of all ranked choice votes" in the second. Are they always going to be the same in my scenario?

What kind of people are running this country?
October 24, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Here's a ranked choice outcome I'm worried about. Fateh's support is concentrated in 1st choices, so Davis/Hampton get eliminated even though they're ranked on more ballots.

This is really just a demo of RCV vs. approval voting, but shows RCV can result in more disappointed voters than necessary

Biked to Stillwater today and hung out at their giant pumpkin fest. They had a Pumpkin regatta in the St. Croix river, with people paddling in carved out pumpkins. Only one guy finished without the gourd taking on water
