Also, my friends and family have been forced to listen to me recount the Beans and Long Beach 5000 oily shirt plays and my father cringes when I remind him Jack Manhattan is a New York cop who doesn't wear shoes

and Beardsley who knocks it out of the park EVERY TIME(even without the iconic 20s)

April 17, 2025 at 1:18 PM
household objects or power tools or even things like bras and spa and salon services, like they get shown two things and a price and they have to guess which one is that price
April 17, 2025 at 12:55 PM
and the dentention from the citizenship appointment..

and it's also dangerous at the least for even third generation immigrants from Venezuela, and probably all immigrant families. It's fucked up and I will not be going to the country for at least 10 years.

and as I said in a different thread of this post, ~80,000 of the ~120,000 japanese people in the internment camps were born in the US or born in the US to parents born in the US.

Like, it's seriously dangerous for minority tourists under this administration, and that's not based on hypotheticals
March 20, 2025 at 2:35 PM
now that the 1798 act was invoked, if you're of The People but also from a specified country they can detain you.

This is how the Japanese internment camps were legally justified while the constitution existed.

I don't like the Trump/Musk admin for *concrete and specific reasons*.
March 20, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Like, on US soil police officers cannot arrest you for speech, but ICE can justify a deportation order based on an expressed opinion negative towards the government and its laws or sympathy to an enemy of the country such as terrorists or specific foreign governments if you're not of The People or,+
March 20, 2025 at 2:30 PM
they are justified like that, because there is no legal obligation for companies to restrict speech in any way. That doesn't mean the company isn't allowed to decide what they will allow their product to platform.

And yeah, in the US, you don't want to be detained in immigrant detention centres
March 20, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Like, citizen Nazis have a right to free speech, but they can be banned from or allowed to post to social media with no legal repurcussions because that's not the government, and they have no international legal obligation to serve every country in the world so...

yes and no, you don't either
March 20, 2025 at 2:06 PM
thats entirely different because x and social media are corporations not the government, hence why moderation is generally stricter than free speech. Like, you can't say the word cisgender on X without it being limited or deleted by moderation.

No one has a *right* to post on social media generally
March 20, 2025 at 2:06 PM
understand the extent of immigrants rights within the country under such an administration because otherwise they don't know the full complexity of the situation they want to fix or the things the admin is legally capable of given the act from 1798 trump invoked.
March 20, 2025 at 12:45 PM
and ftr, I currently don't fully believe she even said that shit, there's no actual evidence and I don't trust shit about any branch of the US government under this admin, I'm just pointing out that the point people are defending her with isn't actually true because I believe they should +
March 20, 2025 at 12:45 PM
I also do need to point out that Musk and the current admin have been playing rules for thee not for me since trump was on the first republican primary ticket, their definition absolutely doesn't include noncitizens, they hate immigrants
March 20, 2025 at 12:34 PM
For example, in the country, no law can prevent you from going to the church of your choice because that law would also restrict The People's 1A rights, but you can deny someone without citizenship or visa entry into the country for speech bcause they're not The People
March 20, 2025 at 12:34 PM
This means that most speech is protected on US soil, but that doesn't prevent them from applying certain criteria to non-citizens that would allow them to deport people based on certain beliefs
March 20, 2025 at 12:34 PM
I'm not saying she's a terrorist I'm saying the bar of free speech is different for non citizens, which I know as a non citizen who has traveled to the US prior to either trump admin

the 1A is a restriction on congress first and foremost to prevent laws making certain speech illegal for The People
March 20, 2025 at 12:34 PM
tourists rights basically come from the constitution restricting what can be made into a criminal law, not directly from being included within "The People" which is what I was referring to given the context here
March 20, 2025 at 12:24 PM
fight with the supreme court my guy, but tourists do not have full 1st or 2nd amendment rights
