The new curriculum for England is not due to be released until 2028 meaning at least another 3-5 years befor this gap narrows. This requires #UrgentImprovement not only for the green transition but also for the economic security and wellbeing of young people.

In the UK this gap is hindering the pace of the green transition. Young people are ideal for these positions given adequate knowledge & skills.
However, many aren't aware of green careers, as identified in the 2025 Royal Meteorological Society report on school leavers.
