10. Professor Layton and the Curious Village

the recontextualization done in this game through the reveal of the mystery was genuinely amazing and even though i didn't love all of the puzzles, it had a ton of charm, a good cast, great music and a surprisingly emotional ending

9. Arcane (Season 2) - Rewatch

my opinions on this season have definitely changed. i had my issues with the way some characters were handled and its pacing, but there is greatness where i previously thought there wasn't any. it isn't perfect, but i love it more than ever

8. Yakuza Kiwami - Replay

reexperiencing this game has made appreciate its story tenfold. there's things in it i might never come around on, but it is what sets the course for kiryu's entire journey moving forward and much like him, i might never recover from it

7. Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

i've been meaning to read this book for a long time and i wish i had read it earlier or at a different point in my life, since i feel like i would've enjoyed the writing and could've related to the characters a lot more than i do now

6. Devilman

reading older works and recognizing how they've influenced more recent, and even some of my favorite series, is always great. it had some pacing issues and was exposition heavy throughout, but the ideas shine through despite that and the art is very impactful

5. Nosferatu

this is a movie that i think i will grow to love more and more as time goes on. it is such a fascinating tale with captivating visuals and ellen's character and relationships with the people around her and the creature she was bound to were both beautiful and tragic

4. Parasite

thematically potent movie about class differences with quite a few unexpected twists along the way, culminating in a final act that definitely left its mark on me. i can understand the high praise this title receives even if i didn't love it as much as i expected

3. Train To Busan

a beautiful film centering around interpersonal dynamics and different people's instincts when everything's on the line. i love stories involving zombie apocalypses but i might have to stop consuming them since they always seem to tear my heart into pieces

2. Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

a story about identity and legacy and... so much more. but despite that, it never really gripped me with its execution. not a bad book, not a new favorite. i am looking forward to reading more of r.f. kuang's works though

1. Twin Peaks (Season 1)

though confusing at times because of its tangled web of character relations and some very unexpected speculative/metaphysical elements, it sets up a compelling mystery and makes us look past the veneer of people and examine who they really are underneath

went in with no expectations, thinking it would be just a cute little anniversary celebration and by the end i was a tearstained mess. it was so special

i saw a scene from the finale on my tl today and it made me crave the remake real bad. i trust them to do kiryus model justice but lowkey the mine/daigo stuff is the main reason why i want it
