Locally relevant as CM Bingle who was just unseated by progressive challenger Sarah Dixit was liking comments about the “Gregoire effect” after Dixit won late votes. His comments (+ comments on news stories about the election) are filled with people (including his campaign manager) election doubting

The Dachsund vote did not go for Dixit, it appears

Council Member Jonathan Bingle has conceded.

Zero votes left to count! It appears Sarah Dixit has won a seat on Spokane City Council by more than 100 votes. Because the percentage difference is more than 1% it will not go to a recount.

Really interesting stuff happening in the wake of the potential Dixit/Bingle upset. Apparently, “God has a plane.”

HOLY SHIT crazy news for Spokane progressives. Dixit closed the gap even more in the most recent ballot drop to less than 70. And there’s still 24k total ballots left to count in the county. City turnout is looking wildly high for an off year election

Interesting challenge results for City of Spokane, where one of the races currently sits with less than 200 votes separating the conservative incumbent and his progressive challenger. 282 ballots have been challenged so far with the majority of them from people under 45. 67 votes from ages 17-24…

They are SO SMALL. I didn’t realize. Plz excuse the drywall dust from mounting a shelf but here is one of the tinyy critters in a humane trap I borrowed from @valerieosier.bsky.social

Did you see the crane by the Monroe Street Bridge and wonder “what is that fishing for? Is it Lime scooters?” just like me and @valerieosier.bsky.social did? If so, thanks to an innocuous press release I almost didn’t open, I got the answer: rock relocation.

Klitzke also said when she doesn’t have a reusable water bottle it’s because she came from dinner at Indigenous Eats and got drinks there. She has a reusable water bottle she brings to local theatre shows. Photo provided by Klitzke:

Water bottle update for the Spokane politics/water bottle nerd crossover crowd:

At his birthday party/campaign fundraiser, Zappone auctioned off a water bottle w/ stickers of anti-Zack ads and for some reason a janky photoshop I made for a @rangemedia.co story once. Blurry screenshots for proof

Here’s a few things that didn’t quite make it into my story that are honestly crazy: the old Spokesman story, and the emails Jordin sent me from prison

When I was 17 I ran into Bernie Sanders and his (extremely hot) staff randomly on the streets of DC. He shook my hand and was very chill about me fangirling over him.

Some snaps from hosting Spokane’s Spiciest Candidate Forum! Highlight was weeping blood red eyeliner tears backstage after round 1/3 of eating the hottest food I’ve had in my entire life 😅😅

That, apparently, triggered former mayor Nadine Woodward, who posted her disapproval on Facebook

Here’s the section in particular that’s still sitting with me, copied from the transcript about a professor, Klemperer, who is ethnically but not culturally Jewish and just barely managing to keep his job because someone vouched for him while everyone’s getting fired around him.
