I appreciate what you're saying but I've read that it's much easier to work illegally in UK than in other European countries partly due to not needing ID cards. Is any of that true? Wouldn't allowing asylum seekers to work legally while their claims are assessed be a better idea for keeping track.

People on pension credit get £156 a year less than those on a full state pension, I think, yet are entitled to all kinds of extra benefits, including the winter fuel
payment. With the full pension being less than £11,500pa this really isn't fair.
