- Gold, white, and cream are the main colors. I decided between his regular dark teal or azure for the other elements. *I’ve always associated the dark teal on his base design to be House Custard’s colors, signifying his ties to them. I thought if Clotted Cream were to marry for love, he’d (mostly) break free from their influence. Hence, I also thought of replacing it with azure, since it’s the Creme Republic’s dominant color. In the end, I settled for azure for the above reason. Adding it not only feels like he’s representing the nation, but also vowing to always remember his duties to the Republic even with his new commitment to his bride. >I tried to see how it would look if his collar/cuffs were another color, as seen in variation #4, but I feel that the azure/dark teal looked a bit too much. Let’s settle with the cream/gold color. *conclusion: ended up liking variation #3 the most!! It grew on me the more I looked at it. it feels like both a traditional suit and tie *and* a military uniform. but let’s see what else I could come up with.

- The shoulder cape seems like a good fit to have his silhouette feel “bare” like Financier’s. *Following this idea, I tried to see what it would look like if we could see his legs fully. In the end, it looked more “special” (to me at least)! Don’t worry, he still has his Cloak of Light. The tendrils/strips of fabric tipped with gold accessories shaped like ivy is supposed to allude to this. The staple gold rose accessory in Financier’s design is also on him to match with her. I also changed the usual gold bird-shaped accessory tipping his cloak into a brooch on his right chest. This is supposed to allude to how military officers show their badges in their uniform.

- He carries Financier’s bouquet (she walks down the aisle with it, but gives it to him right after) >I wanted the items in the bouquet to not only have cohesion with Financier's design, but also have sweet meanings: *white rose: innocence purity, everlasting love, new beginnings. perfect for a wedding. one is also seen on Financier's sword guard. *yellow ranunculus: usually meant "you are *radiant* with your charm" in victorian flower language! yellow flowers also usually mean joy and happiness. *ivy: fidelity, attachment. it just feels perfect for them. *the bouquet is tied with a gold lace/ribbon, a nod to the tulle-like fabric attached to Financier’s headpiece.

- Overall, I wanted him to look like those male leads I keep seeing in fantasy-romance genre manhwas/webtoons. *I mean, once you get familiar with the usual tropes that keep being reused, doesn’t he kind of feel like one?(Yes this is a bit /derogatory. a bit /lighthearted.) - I’ve always liked the idea of Clotted Cream having slicked back hair for a special occasion... So, I said, “Why not?” *I also liked the idea of styling his hair into a low ponytail, like how we see noblemen/aristocrats, but I didn’t want to deviate too much from his original features by growing out his hair too much. - His buttons are on the right (mirrored); while Financier’s are on the left. >As far as I know, they do this rule for military uniforms IRL, too (you can look it up!)

- Financier's White Robes of Honor has certain design elements that I tried to keep in mind when attempting to design him: >her bridal dress is reminiscent of a military uniform. let’s have them have a military wedding. *Financier's military relations are obviously the Paladins, but I feel like as if lots of people forget Clotted Cream has ties to the military, too. He already states he’s able to protect himself, but during Enchantress' attack on Odyssey Ch3 he wasn't just being escorted someplace else for his safety. He wouldn't be able to fight and command a legion *in the front lines* if he didn't have some military training. *And* let's not forget he already wears a formal military uniform in his base design, even if his main job is being a politician! (Also, historically, Roman consuls were required to have military training, apparently.) >her silhouette (without the cape) is also more "bare" due to her forgoing her pauldrons.
