While I think these colors are fine, and maybe even typical, for an octopus mini, I think I'd like to try some more vibrant colors next time.

Following up the squid from a couple days ago with some octopuses! These clever animals excel at hiding, infiltrating and problem solving, making them useful in a tight underwater scenario. I went with some more basic colors on these two.

I'm not sure that smaller squids like the mini is depicting come in this color, but I think it looks good regardless of accuracy.

Keeping up the oceanic theme with a couple squid! They aren't much threat to larger creatures, but they can move fast and blind foes with jets of ink! For the coloration, I took inspiration from the giant squid (despite the size) and the market squid.

Sharks are swift and powerful predators with keen senses. This makes them excellent aids in aquatic battle, or dangerous opponents.

Continuing the oceanic theme with a shark! This one in particular is patterned after a great white shark, easily one of the most recognizable of their kind. Another early success in painting water effects!

Dolphins may not be the most dangerous ocean creature, but they can slam into larger creatures to keep them at bay. These were also some of my first successes with finding a way to paint translucent water.

Switching over to some aquatic creatures with some dolphins! These intelligent mammals can swim quickly and hold their breath from long stretches, making them ideal aids to druids who need to scout watery environments.

Mules are harder and longer lived than horses and seemingly less stubborn and slow than donkeys This makes them ideal pack animals, able to reliably transport heavy loads for travelers, merchants, and soldiers. I really like these models, they were fun!

Finally, we have the very first horse I painted. For as old as this mini painting was, I'm still pretty happy with how it came out.

Single color horses feel harder to paint, if only because I want to make them interesting. Still, I think this black horse came out pretty well.

More horses, now with saddles and riding gear! Before they added horses to Hero Forge, these were my options for the party's mounts.

A simple paintjob of a horse! Horses are always fun, because there's lots of good patterns and colors to choose from. I liked the way this white coloration came out.

Happy Halloween! For my final post of Undead October, we have one of the most dreaded undead: the Lich! By placing their souls in a special phylactery, these spellcasters can live beyond death. I really like this mini, it was a joy to paint!

I really like the combination of fancy clothes and savage pose, it really speaks to the duality of these creatures.

For our penultimate entry if Undead October, we have perhaps the most well known of them, Vampires! These immortal bloodsuckers have quite the reputation for their lethal mix of power and charm.

Coming into the home stretch of Undead October with a classic horror creature, a Mummy! These preserved and reanimated corpses are often made from important leaders or priests. I'm very happy with this paint job, especially the sand cloud effect!

I tried to use a Bodak as a boss encounter for a haunted manor at one point. The party buffed the Goliath Barbarian like crazy before entering the room, and he got a natural 20 on both his Initiative and the opening attack of the fight to one-shot it.

As Undead October creeps ever closer to conclusion, we have some Bodak! These horrific looking undead creatures have stretched faces, and can kill a mortal with but a glance! A simple color pallet, but I really like the eyes!

Continuing on with Undead October with a Wight! Undead corpses that were either evil in life or killed by another Wight, they have a burning hatred for all life. The colors of the armor are inspired by the movie Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Ghasts are a more powerful type of Ghoul, which stinks of decay so badly that it sickens nearby living creatures. I tried for a darker purple coloration to help show their increased power, but I'm not sure how I feel about the results.

I like the design of Ghouls in D&D, their long claws and tongue really seem to speak to their predatory nature. The light purple skin coloration came out really nicely, too!

Back to bodies in Undead October with some Ghouls! These flesh-eating undead are known for their ceaseless appetites and paralyzing touches. Worse still, their ravenous feasting can create more Ghouls!

Keeping up the incorporeal streak of Undead October with a Wraith! They are terrifying apparitions, striking out during the night to drain the life from the living. A bit of a simple paint job, but such a cool mini!

Keeping up with the incorporeal streak of Undead October with a Banshee! While in Irish folklore hearing the wailing of the Banshee was a sign that you will die, D&D lore says they are created from the souls of evil Elven women whose cry can kill you!
