I keep a pair of long-handled kitchen tongs near the laundry so I can reach the small things at the bottom of the washer and the back of the dryer.
I also have a couple more in the kitchen primarily for getting things from the top shelves of the cupboards.

I have lately been fondly recalling a silly movie from years ago wherein the hero inherits a time-stopping watch.
I imagine being able to Stop Time simply so I could sleep. 🛌
