Authoritarians love "Gen AI" because it
- Sounds confident even when factually wrong
- Broadly conforms to & reproduces their biases, off the shelf
- Lets them create bespoke realities (text, audio, moving & still image) which agree w/ their biases
- Degrades trust in knowledge/evidence/expertise…

Maybe, just maybe, the world found out that… *gasp* … alt meat tastes like shit.
Meat sales in the U.S. hit a record high in 2024 after years in which “plant-based” was the mantra. The politics of the moment play a big part in its rise.
