Working on more terrain for my tiny 10mm scale version of Space Gits. I will magnetize the set so I can store it in a metal lunchbox as an easy travel skirmish game.

I’ve been playing some learning games of Fireball Forward and really enjoying it. I’ve found that the game feels better when using small scale terrain (10mm terrain with 20mm figures) because it reinforces that the miniatures represent larger forces than you see.
20mm WW2 figures with 10mm terrain. 20mm WW2 figures with 20mm terrain feels more like a skirmish game than a larger tactical game where the bases represent full squads or other formations.

Working on a setup to play Space Gits at 10mm scale instead of the usual 28mm scale.

So far it’s working out well… I just need to find some tiny RPG dice for the weapon damage.

The dexterity skill base dice rolling reminds me of the old Bloodbowl game Kerrunch.

Sword wielding kunoichi Yakuza swarm across the city overwhelming the beat cops… The cops batons are brutal in close combat if they get a critical hit.

New kickstarter just arrived…

Quick playing skirmish rules that feel like a mix of Too Fat Lardies and Pulp Alley. Going to test out the system doing a heist mission with Yakuza vs Movie Cops and a few civilians thrown into the mix.

A solo RPG set in the Citizen Sleeper universe that uses custom dice and a custom tarot deck. Playing a sleeper in this universe is extremely impactful. The only downside is that the game was an extremely limited release…

Amazing cover art and tarot art shown. love how naturally stories develop and character stories evolve in this system. The art is also stand out and feels like nothing else in the industry right now! Creepy mystery cover shown… is it showing the killer or the player detective loosing his grip on reality. The system does a great job of creating a powerful link between the hunter and hunted. The system also uses a deck of playing cards to move the story forward…

Koriko a Magical Year really surprised me with its use of dice stacking to create tension and its use of cards to represent relationships. I loved how NPC cards go back into the deck so they are guaranteed to return.

Break- over reliance on random tables… nothing takes me out of a game quicker. Cards don’t have the same issue because they don’t force me to flip thru a book.

Make- focus on character relationships and unraveling mysteries.

My 3rd favorite solo TTRPG is Twilight 2000. While not exclusively a solo game I find the way it uses cards/hex maps to dynamically create the story preferable to flipping thru books and rolling on charts. The survivalist vibes also focus the roleplay.

For a beginner I recommend Koriko - a magical year. It focuses on relationships and never feels like a bunch of random events you need to contextualize… also the dice stacking is a brilliant way to create tension without adding complex rules or systems to track tension.

Picked this game up recently when I saw a solo demo by ‘one stop co-op shop’. Not sure how I missed this when it first came out… the game plays super quick and has clean simple rules. Other games in this genre could lear a lot from how clear and simple this games card text is…
2 player game shown. Each player has 3 characters and they fight to control the colored hexes around the central scoring pillars. This shows 4 of the base game characters and 2 trim the nature expansion.

I’m playing thru all my old games to see which ones to keep in my collection and which ones to get rid of. I played a quick game of Serpent’s Tongue and really enjoyed it. This game had some extremely deep world building for a MTG style card game.

I finally tracked down the kickstarter exclusive minis for Star Schlock. Looking forward to painting them… they will be great for 7Tv, Mutants and Death Ray Guns, and Star Schlock.
A bunch of pulp sci fi miniatures based with a prime coat. A mixture of Planet of the apes inspired figures as well as space pirates and weird aliens.

I love the turnover mechanic in Song of Blades and Heroes so I’ve been playing thru many of the other games in that series. Mutants and Death Ray Guns is my favorite so far…

A bunch of post apocalyptic city terrain and unpainted minis from cyberpunk combat zone. I really like combat zone but Mutants and Death Ray Guns wins out because of how well it delivers on the Morheim campaign promise while still staying simple and quick.
