Why won't my spoon go through the screen to scoop up some of that mousse 😭

My husband and I just finished a Leonardo Da Vinci documentary on PBS and at the end of his life the French king gave him a nice home and pretty much left him to his devices and I just wanna know why this isn't a thing anymore. It should be.
