For the midterms, we need the politicians to be more afraid of the voters than they are of trump.

You know, in the Haudenosaunee tradition we try to consider the impact that our actions will have seven generations from now. If only other democracies would have such long vision...especially regarding environment, food, energy, water, etc...

Just spent a week in New Brunswick Canada lecturing on Indigenous Science to pre-college kids. Really well received- thank you Canada! Also ran some improv workshops on communication with my wife Jeri. She outshines me on those! Fun and stimulating visit!

So important heads up. Quantum Computing will come online between 2026 and 2032. When it does, ALL of today's encryption will be defeated. All of it. I am investigating and will post if I find a true protection. There's one candidate that I am investigating. All private info will open to bad guys.

I'm guessing that Sanders Maine in Peter Clines book is actually Sanford Maine.

This was not a time to have so many spineless Democrats in office. Keep track of the jellyfish and vote them out in 2 years... if we get a chance to vote at all.

Living scifi by Peter Clines. Southern Maine orientation speaks volumes since I grew up there. He either does great research or is also from there. Excellent scifi!

Recent report cites that AIs now have the ability to replicate themselves without any human interference. This is an important step for rogue AIs to outsmart humans so that they are not turned off. This is a dangerous red line. Next issue will be self-editing. arxiv.org/abs/2412.12140

Administration’s cost cutters fired 400 NNSA workers in charge of our nuclear arsenal, then had to hire them back when they realized what they had done. Blanket cost cutting by the uninformed is dangerous.

I dropped Axios as a news source. In my opinion (based on several examples) they are no longer objective - they are more and more pro-Trump. I only follow objective news sources that show both sides.

My initial reactions to DeepSeek:
In my initial tests, Deepseek gives more complete answers to quantum physics questions, and even enters the speculative arena but is clear to cite what is real and what is only speculation. Much more thorough than ChaptGPT. Cheaper might also be a big advantage.

Heads Up - federal funding is being shut down for DEI grants

So if you have a grant from NIH and it contains a DEI component, funding for travel and communication is being turned off. I expect this to expand to include NSF and NASA, but I don’t know for sure. Just be aware and alert.

Quoting Carl Sagan, " extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence". An important principle to keep in mind during these current and upcoming chaotic times. I don't see much being presented in support of what seem like extraordinary claims. But the impact of acting on them is very real.
