Proud New Jersey native drowning my sorrows over the 2024 election with theater, Disney, and pizza.
Think happy thoughts about the late Senator Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, too, who got smoking banned on airplanes.

Personally, I miss station wagons. I wish we did have the choice to buy one instead of an SUV. Station wagons could be made with modern safety devices and fuel economy.

“Alumna” is feminine. John is an “alumnus.” Please hire a copy editor.

Fran Lebowitz is not one of my favorite human beings. She led the (mercifully unsuccessful) fight against a cigarette ban in New York restaurants, stating frequently she thought secondhand smoke was a fraud. She seemed incapable of empathy for those sensitive to smoke.

I made the mistake of providing my email address to the Texas Tribune to read an article and was punished by a gushing stream of spam, all "reply to the Texas Tribune." I suggest avoiding them.

I just got off a bus in New Jersey on which a teenage boy refused to mute his LOUD speakerphone conversation. Apparently it’s more a personality thing than an age thing.

Relieved that you liked it. After all the complaints online about the actors reading the scripts, I had been second-guessing my advance ticket purchase for February.

I had a 1974 Maverick I cherished for the same reason, until my employer demanded I get a new car because it was embarrassing him to have it in the parking lot.

Actually ultra Orthodox Jews speak Yiddish amongst themselves, reserving Hebrew for the synagogue, and it is not unusual to refer to Yiddish as “Jewish.”

In the U.S. in the 1970’s and 1980’s there used to be wonderful petite departments with lots of designers but the stores axed them because they determined the average petite customer was middle-aged and they wanted to be associated with youth. It was a crime.

They remind me happily of the firm Stayman Winesap I used to love as a child, only it turns out they crack on the trees without Alar.

I, too, had to endure 20 hours of back labor without anesthesia before being allowed the caesarean that saved my life. Doctors and hospitals are bullied by statistic keepers who rate them down if they do too many caesareans and this affects the care they offer.

Is there anything upsetting to a child about the fate of the new pig? We heard downer internet rumors.

My husband is always complaining about how filthy the stalls are in men’s rooms. I have no desire to experience that myself. Better to have anyone identifying as female free to use the comparatively immaculate women’s room.

The Subaru Outback I drive is a station wagon. They’re just afraid to call it that. That’s how it’s different from the Forester, which is high and boxy, as befits an SUV.
