The Supervisor Rule. Unlike US/UK unis, you don't apply to the school first. You must find a professor at a Swiss institution (ETHZ, EPFL, etc.) who agrees to mentor you.

You need their signed "Letter of Support" included in your application package.

The "In-Branch" Hack: Online applications usually demand an SSN. BUT, if you walk into a Bank of America, a "Relationship Banker" can manually override the SSN requirement using your Passport + I-20.

2. Strings
3. HashMaps

3. The "Credit Builder" (Month 2) 🏦 Only go to Lloyds/HSBC once you have:

A signed Tenancy Agreement

A "Bank Letter" from your Uni portal. You need these banks later for credit history if you want the Graduate Visa route.

Forget Barclays on Day 1. They want utility bills you don't have. Monzo is built for nomads. The Hack: They accept your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) as primary ID. Use your halls address. 90% of the time, no utility bill is asked for.

1. The Pre-Flight Hack: Wise 🦉 Traditional banks need you to be IN the UK. Wise (formerly TransferWise) lets you open an account with your HOME address. Do this 2 weeks before you fly. Result: You land with a working UK Sort Code & IBAN.
