We often had interesting conversations when I asked “Is that what some people think?” “Why do you think they think that?” and “What do you think?” I feel like these kinds of conversations really benefit from openness and respect. It’s a great chance to gain insights into what’s happening in school.

First off I have to say that I didn’t always get this right. I was surprised at the messages coming home from school and sometimes responded in a way that was too something. Just too much. In retrospect the best conversations were the ones in which I asked questions and listened instead of telling.
