Now, the study leader has written to her colleagues: "We are so pleased to inform you that the decision to restore WHI funding has been officially communicated to WHI leadership. We learned last night from our NIH acquisitions officer “that the previous decision to not renew has been rescinded."

The administration had said as much, under pressure, after Science broke the news that the longstanding study was being targeted. But the scientists themselves then heard nothing.
