Heard my first Cuckoo on Wednesday at Clandon Downs, but was lucky enough to see this one at Whitmoor Common this morning. #ukbirding #surreybirds

The pair of Garganeys (or another pair) back on the scrape at Stoke today. #ukbirding #surreybirds

Chiffchaff nest-building at Stoke this morning. Otherwise pretty quiet in the wind; one Whitethroat, no sound from any Sedge Warblers, though I know they are back. #ukbirding #surreybirds

My day off today so went to THAT PLACE and saw THIS THING!

This Spring, the garden is full of the twitters and wheezes of Greenfinches, which seem to be finally bouncing back from their long decline. Not only that, but the other day I saw TWO Chaffinches in the garden. At the same time! #ukbirding

It's brown, it's drab, it's distant, but joy was unconfined when I finally managed to see the Little Bunting at Prews Farm, on my 6th attempt. #surreybirds #ukbirding

Interestingly, while playing with my new camera, I noticed the same thing!

They are common enough locally, but we don't often see Parakeets on the feeders, so I thought this smart male was worth a photo. #SurreyBirds #BirdingUK

Not the most impressive BirdTrack annual wrap, but steady coverage of local sites, and always good to have room for improvement..... #surreybirds

No scarce buntings today, but the flocks at Prews Farm are truly extraordinary. Perhaps 1000 Linnets today, with many hundred Chaffinches, and smaller numbers of Reed Buntings, Yellowhammers and Bramblings. #UKBirding #SurreyBirds

New bird for me at Stoke today - sadly not a Smew but a leucistic Coot! #ukbirding #surreybirds

Its the time for the annual patchlist wrap! Total species seen in my patch (10km from my home in Guildford) this year was....118. So two less than last year. Some clear highlights; Hen Harrier, Ring Ouzel, Cattle Egret, Hawfinch, White Stork... 1/2

I somehow didn't manage to see a Peregrine on my patch this year; however that was rectified at the last minute by a visit to Guildford Cathedral today. #ukbirding #surreybirds

At least 7 Hawfinches at Newlands Corner this morning, glowing in the first rays of the sun.
