In a concurrence that is otherwise very thoughtful and specific about language, we see ‘wheelchair-bound’ make another unfortunate appearance (thanks to my listserv mates for pointing this out). Wheelchairs are mobility aids. They facilitate movement. A person in a wheelchair is not bound.

I read this brilliant article. As Prof. Harris discussed in detail, guardianship is never about the well-being of marginalized groups, including disabled people, but rather about the exploitation of their money, power, and labor. Highly recommended!

Cannot agree more. Disabiity is a human nature that across classes.
*Disabled. We drive ugly cars too and sometimes have enough $ for the expensive ones. This is not the kind of surveillance we want to impose on disabled people, no matter how ridiculous the cars and the man behind them.
