People seem to equate them liking something with it being perfect and somehow any criticism of the thing is an attack on them.

I read the phrase "credit where credit is due, criticism where criticism is due" recently and I'm really trying to keep that in mind.

People who argue "who cares it's just for kids" all I can say is fuck right off. Kids deserve thoughtful, well-made movies that challenge them just as much as adults do. Kids aren't stupid, and they remember how movies affect them basically forever.
