MEP Operations & Engagement Manager Matt Doll reflects on MEP's work for #GiveToTheMaxDay: "It’s easy to sit with despair, but it’s not useful. I refuse to do nothing while big polluters steal all this natural beauty from my daughter’s future."
What kind of future will we leave for our kids?
Our Operations and Engagement Manager Matt Doll reflects on why MEP’s work is so important this Give to the Max Day: Do you have a fond memory about spending time in nature with a loved one?

"To 'leave the leaves' is simply allowing leaves to break down naturally over the winter. Scientists and advocates say it can be a way to help improve soil health and support wildlife populations."
Put your rake down! Fallen leaves are healthy for soil and wildlife
Scientists say leaving autumn leaves on the ground can add important nutrients to the soil and create needed habitat for insects.

"It turns out one of Minnesota’s biggest sources of climate pollution and one of Minnesota’s biggest sources of water pollution come from the exact same source, nitrogen fertilizer."
Opinion | Move nitrogen fertilizer higher on your worry list
"Recognizing that agriculture’s GHG emissions are huge, some might assume the biggest sources are animal agriculture or carbon dioxide from tractors and trucks. But that’s wrong," Jean Wagenius writes...

"Tribal and state officials know wild rice is in decline but have never been able to agree on what to do to about it." We need to confront climate change and industrial pollution so that this food source can live on in Minnesota.
Wild rice is in jeopardy in Minnesota. But nobody can agree on how to save it.
Minnesota’s state grain is critical to tribes, farmers, rural economies and the environment. But any action to protect it and the waters that nurture it has long been a seed of contention.

Opinion: Minnesota Legislature should not kill community solar
With rising electric bills, a shaky economy and no help from the feds on climate or affordability, we ought to be expanding community solar rather than seeking to end it.
