as much as i love art, a lot of the time the piece can't truly be understood and appreciated without background knowledge of its artist, historical context, et cetera.
and so if you say something like 'i dont really understand this' youre a knuckledragging neanderthal with holes in your brain

society operates on symbols and symbolism, people know that. but the second you try to say something like "dogs are more revered in media because they are the masculine, unlike cats which are the feminine" you're like crazed or whatever.
