The article is pretty bad. There are a many working approaches to fixing the issue:
* Distro packaging
* Flatpak (the article dismissed it but it just works for most people)
* Steam runtime
And in the exceptionally rare case that thats not enough:

I'd assume that all the audio ports share a common ground, so you could take the ground from the microphone jack and the signal from the headphone jack.

the form factor is quite convenient compared to a square footprint box. it lets you choose larger PSUs, mainboards, cooling solutions, and graphics cards. the glass windows and rgb bullshit is just a bit of gamer sheen on a fundamentally pragmatic design.

There is really no reason to believe that synthetically produced additives are necessarily less healthy. It's the energy of a typical portion and lack of diversity instead of the preservatives and artificial colors that make eating something like Kraft mac & cheese unhealthy in the long term.
