Unpopular take; assuming that they are 1st author, make them ask for an extension. Their paper, their responsibility. Give them a chance to keep the lead. If they can’t do it, you do the revisions and their name gets buried in the byline.

He resigned from Congress, and I feel that if he didn't have the AG job in the pocket, then he would have tried to weather the storm.

I think the only way that this happens is if he has an alternate position in the Trump admin as a backup. He's not just going to retire to Florida.

Agree. I don't think anyone really does. The complexity of the system makes unanticipated, nonlinear effects from any big changes highly probable.

A reasonable person could want reform (we may disagree on what), but the concept of just "blowing up the system" seems like a really bad idea.
