If you're struggling with news overwhelm at the moment, please be kind to yourself. Managing our attention in the digital age isn't easy! The key is gradually replacing autopilot habits with more intentional ones. Check my latest book with Jonathan Garner: "Your Best Digital Life" (Macmillan 2025).

I've been reading the new MIT study notes about what happens to our brains when we use ChatGPT to research and write things for us. Here are my thoughts about it…

Fascinating how the human mind is wired to spot patterns and especially faces in clouds, traffic lights and everywhere. I believe it has evolutionary origins in keeping us safe (spotting tigers in the bushes etc.) but now I do it just for fun.. and to stop looking down at my phone!
Photography and having a young son who helps point things out I’d otherwise miss, helps for sure. An antidote to mindless distractions.

Once a year, I take off all the keys on my keyboard, rinse them with warm soapy water, scrub the board with a soft bristled baby brush, air dry, and then carefully put everything back together. Yep. What do you do for fun? 😆 #techrituals

The best (and possibly only) way to leverage tech well is to get curious and experiment! I had the pleasure of speaking at The Leathersellers' Link and Learn event last week exploring the role of AI in the charity sector. So much potential in leveraging AI to amplify impact!

We are in good company! Brilliant to see our book 'Your Best Digital Life' next to these amazing reads by Johann Hari and Cal Newport. Their work sparked critical thinking about digital wellbeing – we're building on it to introduce a new way of treating digital tech as an extension of your mind!

Hello, old friend! A local perennial. These have grown to about 15cm tall. The leaves are divided into three toothed and lobed segments.

Just found this book from 1991. The "Over 500,000 copies sold" sticker reminded me that parents worrying about kids spending too much time on screens is nothing new! Back then, there were no on-demand shows or personalization algorithms, yet the struggle was (already) real. That was 33 years ago!
