In 1897 you knew what was happening in Collinwood a lot by how an actor looked. Barely 20 min. was all each one had to let you know what kind of danger lurked then & there. #DarkShadows

Somehow we always managed to figure out there was something very peculiar about Barnabas Collins. It took them ages to do it in Collinwood, except for David Collins and the ghost of Sarah Collins, but that was dangerous anyway. Dr. Hoffman often had her morals tested. #DarkShadows

In "Dark Shadows" we find the under dogs don't always lose out. They may be put down, cursed, shoved aside, ignored, insulted, and forced to be a butt of many cruel social attacks by many who make more excuses to do that than they do. And yet, they can, and do, rise above it all. #DarkShadows

Calling on dark forces are popular with Nicholas & Angelique, with differences in use & intention. Angelique frequently forgets her protection circle, hurting herself. You need one, like Nicholas uses. Power is being used to "retrieve" some, "craft" a use, then "send" the curse. #DarkShadows

Fortunately for Barnabas Collins and the rest of his family; modern, past, and across time to another band of it Dr. Julia Hoffman had a rare courage that enabled her to follow and serve Barnabas Collins. She understood time, family, and spiritual love in unique, rare ways. #DarkShadows

We're allowed to see a more human reflective side to Barnabas, as Jonathan Frid carves out a grounded nature to Barnabas. Even in dealings with Maggie his quiet strength & careful thinking is something to agree with. The vampire isn't in him, so he is free to use human talents. #DarkShadows

What these peculiar reactions of Quentin, Barnabas, & Julia Hoffman concerning a simple eclipse? It's a first at Collinwood because they discuss supernatural possibilities. It doesn't seem to cause worry, at least not yet. Where's David? He likes this kind of thing.

Roger Collins had many of his beliefs torn to shreds. Cassandra leaves him suddenly and Jeff Clark runs off to dig up a coffin when he is supposed to be marrying Vicky. Roger confronted Jeff's lunacy. It says a lot for Roger that he chose sanity in these dark moments. #DarkShadows

It's amazing that Magda, a simple gypsy (married to a man who lived with her & made certain rules for her), & who wasn't in her home camp, was able to navigate around all the problems in Collinwood. That also included the curse she created. She had to have nerves of steel. #DarkShadows

While we knew eventually Julia Hoffman had to face and empower an unspeakable creation, Elizabeth Collins Stoddard used power & familial ties to reach Barnabas. She had to, Barnabas was her blood relation. She probably knew his failings were hidden. He was uniquely dangerous. #DarkShadows

After picking plums from our gigantic over loaded tree this a.m. I realized it was getting warmer so I started up the window cooler. Salem doesn't need those monster sized kinds. Now at 2 p.m. the air is cooler, so I'm back to fresh air blowing through it. Jpegs = plum after suckers trimmed.

Collinwood ghosts appear real, more often than not. Some are wholesome, some are reckless. Some are mistaken as one. Some are so evil they wait in the spirit world and use something dead to control people's minds. #DarkShadows

All Dark Shadows fans know, absolutely, that a curse starts SMALL. Little things. Bothersome, like a buzzing fly. As time and people go on, day to day, the curse worsens like a virus and you just want to get rid of it any way you can! #DarkShadows

Barnabas had to get into everyone's business when he time travelled due to so many unorthodox situations he had to lion tame at modern Collinwood. Some of them were simply not his doing. Other people just had really bad ideas (some of which were curses of various kinds). #DarkShadows

For Barnabas there was no mere human devoted to him, there was Dr. Julia Hoffman. Through every manner of torture laden situation at Collinwood she rose shining with great goodwill then continued bravely saving people from the ravages of evil, both human and supernatural. #DarkShadows

The only way to change the vampire is to deny him his food source while it's wrapped into his belief system. At Collinwood, that was it every time. Even if only just a tiny separation, the change comes later and is real. #DarkShadows

It's curious to note in "Dark Shadows" there isn't much finger pointing to certain adults as we might think. Really then, who started it. Did Vicky do it from going back to the past? Did Prof. Stokes do it with a seance? Did Roger do it getting involved with that portrait?? #DarkShadows

Ghostly visitations are just a normal thing to David Collins, such as Sarah Collins (ghost) & Maggie Evans (disguised as Josette's ghost). Then you get Quentin Collins spirit inhabiting Jamison in 1897, acting like he always has, Jamison elsewhere. #DarkShadows

Sticky situations at Collinwood aren't always clear. If what happens leads to something drastic, drastic things are done to figure it out. Are the antagonists always bad? Priorities get confused. That does not mean people are inherently bad. #DarkShadows

I would compare Roger Collins & Elizabeth (aka Liz) Collins Stoddard to others from their reigned in emotions. Roger = nearly as lethal when his masculinity was provoked as Barnabas was in supernatural form. Liz harbored a terror yr to yr. All of it transforms how people look & act. #DarkShadows

#WorldDraculaDay. Barnabas Collins, played by Jonathan Frid. He was a dangerous cursed vampire who had to visit himself in the past more than once to set things right at Collinwood, the Collins family seat in Maine. "Dark Shadows", 1966-71. 16 seasons streaming free in Pluto. #DarkShadows

In Collinwood we don't accept mother's as given in face value. Each mother has her agenda. The trick is to figure out which agenda is safe if any of them are. Or more to the point is to ask, "what can the end result of her activities lead to?" #DarkShadows

Jeb forced negative reactions from Carolyn when he met her originally. It's like she had a talent for noticing BS in a man, quickly too. He had no gun or knife, but his ego was a giant. He may have been very attracted to Carolyn's self control, not realizing what was behind it. #DarkShadows
