Concept to design to playtest prototype in one week! I really cracked the whip on my 10 year old artist to get it done. 😆

My 10 year old design partner and I are doing a 2-person game jam. Here she is designing one of the playable characters.

We ran an unregulated Unmatched tournament yesterday. Got through 24 matches before we ran out of steam.
No animals other than corn dogs were harmed.

Courier dropped off my copy of Hubris last night 🥰

We’ve come a long way since I first heard about it on Harold Buchanan’s podcast.

July 1st scenario of A Most Fearful Sacrifice by Hermann Luttmann.

It's 1500, I'm Union and my backside is hanging out in the open as my opponent rushes towards the undefended Culp's Hill. (We play 2 Turns a week on Vassal while waiting for my carpenter wife to finish extending the wargame table.)

Canadian Thanksgiving was spent playing Leviathan Wilds with the kiddos. Great fun was had by all, especially the mushroom chucker.

Apparently, M’Quve is also ready.

(Seriously, Gundam 0079 can get very… odd?)

On the right, Bagration has made the mistake of pushing 2 artillery to the approach without any other units in support. He is about to lose them and the entire location when the enemy takes advantage of his (my) stupidity.

Thank you @vangamegarden.bsky.social !

This event is such a ray of goodness in our world.

My chibi-artist and I had a great time visiting and hope to run our own booth there next year.

Leviathan Wilds, it’s very good. I don’t want to stop playing.
I will be pushing this on the family to tackle this weekend but first I must play through all the characters and classes…

(I should note that I play 2-handed solo instead of using the solo rules.)

Played La Famiglia last night. A strictly four player (2v2) area control Euro with a mafia theme.
Three hours to play but it was a good flow of action.

Not a theme I am interested in but the game play is solid.

¡Ay! Santísima Trinidad, such a chonker that even your counter stack is huge. (She had more guns than any other ship of the Age of Sail.)

Near her, Héros has struck and Redoutable is aflame.

I’m gaming it a bit (though I suppose it is also historically accurate) by not bringing the British close to Alava and Gravina. The Spanish are content to get only a participation medal if they can help it.
This means that DuM has a chance to cut across the British on western edge in about 4 Turns?
September 6, 2025 at 6:41 PM
I’m using the C3i scenario rules so DuM can only participate on a die roll. At the end of Turn 8 he finally rolls higher than the number of Nelson’s Division still facing Direction 2. He turns now, going with the wind instead of into it. The San Francisco is going to sink right about now.

With Bucentaure getting a bit leaky and Redoutable on fire, Villeneuve has shifted his flags to Neptune but she’s also beginning to fill with holes. How’s a man supposed to get out of Trafalgar alive?!?

C3i version setup of the Trafalgar scenario for Flying Colors.

Collingwood feels a little too far ahead of the leeward line?

Two of my Halfling Blitz Bowl fellas varnished and ready to romp on to the pitch.

Miniature gaming is irrational - all that space and storage requirements plus arts and crafts work before you can even play!

*WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?*

Currently soloing Earthborne Rangers on my table.

After suffering through it, I would advise new players to only read the Prologue rather than play through it.

I also feel like I need to 2-hand it, make it a buddy-ranger story.

About to teach youngest child my favourite game of all time and I’m nervous she will bounce off it.

Youngest child decided that we needed personalized investigator cards so she drew us a pair.

I’m the eye ball with a bag called “Baggo”.

She’s the hard boiled one armed with a pencil.

Got Spy Club many years ago to play with eldest child but we both found it boring and never explored it past the first case. We finally restarted and got to the 2nd case with younger child and wow - the game transformed!
I’m so glad we didn’t get rid of it. (Spoilers in the ALT text of the 2nd pic.)

Guess who is no longer an ASL virgin! Back in the 80's, my time was taken up by AD&D and the rules for this are reminiscent that era. Lots of DRMs, lots of digits going up or down and odds shifts. But that Line of Sight rule that ASLers are so proud of... yeah, I don't think that one has aged well.
