like I knew it was going to be bad when we learned it was just 3 decisions. But I had hope for Dorian with how specifically they wanted to put him in the north, and it was actually all just for nothing. I feel like my canon worldstate has been for nothing bc it's not solavellan. How is it this bad?

And I know that solavellans got special dialogue in that scene, too. I'm not asking for much here. But god damn. I have had this character I made and absolutely adore ruined for my TWICE by some stupid fucking decision at bioware.

so now I walk into this tavern, and what does my inquisitor use? (and with the wrong voice for some fucking reason, even though I checked it in CC). He calls Dorian "an old friend." Exact same wording.

I fucking lost it. That was just so egregious to me. Literally history repeating itself.

I adore this character, I've started probably 5 more inquisition runs with him that have petered out, until my final run before veilguard. I FINALLY finished Trespasser, after 8 years, I just couldn't get myself to that point again. It was finally done.

That immediately killed everything for me. I thought I had somehow glitched out of my romance, that my save was just completely fucked. I was devastated. Even after learning that it was just that one interaction, I lost all the wind in my sales. Rolled back my save to mythal, never finished the game

Inquisition was the first like, big modern video game I ever played and like, cared enough to challenge myself in. I damn near completed that save, all the DLC, all the dragon fights. And I got to trespasser and got Dorian's friend interaction. Immediately after talking to cassandra about marriage.

if you're unaware, if you choose this option with him then, you miss out on his initial romance interaction in trespasser. He tells the guy he's talking to that you're "an old friend" and runs up and talks to you like you have normal high approval friendship. The rest of the romance is fine, though.

So I'm playing Veilguard with my OG inquisitor I made 8 years ago when I picked up the game and romanced Dorian. At that time, when Dorian came to me after the Mythal stuff and talked about going back to Tevinter, my inky encouraged him. Supportive boyfriend shit.

I'm still in act one and without spoiling it, I think MW Rook could go well with either Lucanis or Bellara, given some of their personal stuff

getting to reimagine this character who I never got to utilize like I wanted to is probably my favorite part of the game so far

Yep, if you are new to the series I definitely recommend it. Most apprehension for this new entry comes from long time fans worrying about series projection as a whole, but for a new player I can't recommend the series enough

I realize you meant combat itself. Combat is different in each game, this new one is actually HEAVILY mass effect inspired which is a new direction for DA. The past games have been real time with pause, the older ones have more tactical combat than the newer. Not comparable to BG3 or witcher I'd say
October 28, 2024 at 6:27 PM
Not real familiar with Witcher 3, but BG3 is comparable for violence I'd say, sex is usually toned down even further than in BG3, but I feel like the romances themselves are a lot fuller in DA. Bioware made the first 2 BG games and then went on to make DA, if that helps for context.

For violence, this is a combat heavy video game. It's not guts and viscera, but historically there's been blood puddles and persistent blood spatter buildup on characters, which has always been toggleable.

There have always been sexual themes and lots of violence in the series. No graphic sex, it's all fade to black, but there are usually references and discussions. Romances are entirely optional content, though.
