We got out with J Pod for our 6th encounter of the year! We were able to confirm that J62 is female and document all 26 members! We were also able to confirm that J35 is no longer carrying the carcass of J61. Check out the encounter and more photos at the link below.

My profile picture is a portrait I painted last September of L128, the newest member (at the time) of the critically endangered Southern Resident killer whale population. L128 did not live more than about a month. Since then, two more calves have been born to the SRKWs, and one of those has passed.

Wasnt able to go trunk or treating this year, but that's okay! Participated in some costumery tomfoolery anyway - it was fun! Never made a costume before and learned quite a bit for next time! c:

Another extremely difficult to make memorial comic... I may not believe in an afterlife: heaven/rainbow bridge etc. but I would hope if there is any spark of Rio left, that he would linger to wait for Niko. Since they loved each other so much & left only 4 months apart 💔
