Memdeklaro supports a world where people are judged only on their character, beliefs and actions, not on where they were born, who they were born to, or what their birth culture was. The power to cut ties with hostile environments, and thrive in a self-chosen community.

In comparison, the self-declaration of identity does not require the permission of third parties such as birth countries, birth cultures or birth parents - instead, the individual has the ability to define their own name, culture and personal ties, and is the authority over their own life.

This leaves individuals, who may be stateless, refugees, not registered at birth, victims of child abuse or victims of cult abuse, on the edge of society, with no way to appeal or earn access to what most people take for granted.

Millions of people have no access to government ID, which makes it difficult to access necessities like work, housing and healthcare. Despite issuing laissez-passer passports in the past, neither the UN nor the Red Cross offer substitute IDs today.

It doesn’t matter where you were born or who you were born to, everyone should have the same chances, and be treated as individuals, judged only on their character, personal beliefs and actions.
