Not sure how to fix it, but there's some ways to work around it. If you're using Finder in "Icons" view, it may be less disruptive to switch to "Columns" when moving files.
If spring load happens and you want to back out quickly, press Esc key. If you accidentally move a file, undo is Command+Z

So the biggest determinants are positive or negative valence, (negative being the most powerful sadly), eliciting surprise or shock (similar to emotional valence), learning something new, and digestibility/adaptability - essentially the speed at which someone can understand and use the information.
