It's kind of good news for Labour in regards to the CGT policy. But 2026 will be tight. #OneTermGovt #BringItOn

Coalition would hold power but Labour gains points after capital gains tax - poll

Mahi tahi is the word of the day for Erica's te reo lesson.
Collaboration and cooperation, two actions Erica has failed to do with the education profession.

Erica is very concerned with the learning students do, but she should be concerned for her own learning - it has a rather narrow scope.

So you'll buy another one in 12-24 months.

I bought mine in 1998, and it's still sucking hard out.
$180 well spent at Farmers.

When you have the whole spectrum of education professionals concerned by what you are doing, who have pointed out the pedagogical errors, dodgy AI attempts, that aspects are taken from the Aussie curriculum & don't match our Year groupings, classes with multiple year groups will struggle! Unethical!

And on Teacher Appreciation Day, this is Erica Stanford's response to teachers, researchers, academics, teacher unions, principals, and subject associations who are sending open letters and pleading with the Minister over a shonky curriculum rewrite:
"Well, that's just a bit silly."

A comparison of the 2023 Curriculum Refresh written, consulted and tripled by education academis, researchers and teachers at the chalkface
V
THE 2025 abomination of a Curriculum written by a narrow group with a political agenda not fit for the NZ schooling system, students, teachers or society.

This is blatant political interference in rge New Zealand Curriculum that shouldn't be tolerated.
Education professionals should be deciding what is in the NZ Curriculum, not politicians from 8% parties pandering to the worst of NZ society to the detriment of our students.

These amused me.
This government has invited the largest strike in 47 years.
That's quite an accomplishment. #nzpol

No one is crying out for 18 & 19 year olds - because this economy has been fucked by National - migrants become cheap, exploitable labour.
Jobseeker changes: 'Punished for economic crisis they didn't create' - our young people pay for Nicola's choices.

There's a bit of cat politics going on in my garden today.
Tortypus is on the deck, strategically placed behind the rubbish bin (strategically placed so I can empty the kitchen bin without fuss) observing Ripple Cat from next door treating my garden like it is his own garden. He's a ratbag.

Last day of The Rock 2000 Countdown for 2025.
Every song played today will likely be some of my most favourite songs.
Looking forward to heading to Spark Arena with my besties this afternoon for the big live event of what is number 1 and with Tadpole, Grinspoon and Blindspott.
My happy place.

Kia maumahara!
Make them remember you!!

Yesterday, our senior doctors showed us how to take back the narrative.

We will make them remember us on October 23rd!!

On October 23, our principals, primary teachers, support staff and MOE field staff will be engaging in strike action.

We invite you to join us on the actions we take on the day, because you stand with us is standing up for our tamariki and our free quality public education system.
September 23, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Kanohi ki te kanohi
Rae ki te rae.
NZEI Te Riu Roa is a powerful union and we stand for free quality public education for all our tamariki.
We can not do this though without standing up for principals, teachers (ECE, Kindergarten, Primary, Area Schools), support staff and MOE workers.

Shamubeel is concerned about some of tge nutjobs getting into Parliament and concerned the number of nutjobs will increase.
We can not rely on politicians to speak for us. We need other organisations and institutions, like NZEI Te Riu Roa, to speak up and make change.
September 23, 2025 at 9:36 PM
Shamubeel gave this advice to NZEI Te Riu Roa to be able to be a strong union to meet the needs of our members and create positive progressive change for our tamariki and communities.

This is the picture of success:
* on the left hand side, that is the picture of success for Wellington bureaucracy
* the right hand picture is the picture of success for Tūhoe people
There's a distinct disconnect as to what is success.
Local solution are important. One size doesn't fit all.
September 23, 2025 at 9:32 PM
Shamubeel says working with Tūhoe gave him light bulb thinking moments he cherishes.
He has developed this tikanga lens slide to show the contrast between the orthodox view and tge Tūhoe Tikanga View.
This fits is with what Eru said yesterday about the migration from Hawaiiki v colonists.
