The mountain was out and she was brilliantly clear this afternoon when I left the gym. I decided to stop at the Washougal Waterfront Park to take some photos on my way home.
I'd been meaning to capture some photos with the eagle statue in the foreground. I only wish it was angled better.

There were a whole lot of rather spectacular mushrooms growing in the lawn at work the other day...so I stopped and took some photos on the way to my car.

Portland At Night.
Doesn't look like a war zone, burning to the ground to me.

Well, I'm a Domestic Terrorist, I guess.
I suppose that'll be my excuse from now on, when I disappoint the people in my life.
"Come on, what more would you expect from me? I'm a domestic terrorist."

This was from 2020.

I wonder how much worse it will get this time.
The irrational fear spread like wildfire back in 2020, and we're seeing clear evidence that the same people who were whipped up into a fervor then are just as gullible five years later.

You know what, he's right.
I think I've developed PTSD from all the time I spend in the war zone. It's gotten so bad that I don't even notice all of the fighting and death surrounding me every day. Literally, I just don't even see it. I must be blocking it out.

Looking West, toward downtown from SE Portland.

I heard about this new David Lynch mural in SE Portland, and I absolutely had to check it out.
It's fucking fantastic!
I'm sure he would have loved it, though he'd have probably been humble about seeing his face on the side of the building.

Photos from the Fair Lift at The Oregon State Fair in Salem. I have to say, it's more of a value add than any of the rides could have been, at $7 for a 15-minute aerial trip back in the direction where I parked.

Photos from the Petting Farm at The Oregon State Fair in Salem.
I would argue that the best part of any fair is the opportunity to see adorable animals.

A brief GoPro Video from the Fair Lift at The Oregon State Fair in Salem on Saturday afternoon.
I would recommend anyone visiting the Fair take advantage of the Fair Lift. It's worth it just for a different view of the whole fairground.

The next batch of audiobooks I think I'll be listening to...perhaps not in this specific order...that's just the order I downloaded them into the Audible app.
I have just as hard of a time picking the next audiobook as I do the next title on my Kindle or the next book from my shelves.

I went driving and walked around near downtown Portland around 2 AM. I wanted to take more photos but had a harder time finding parking than I'd hoped to. I can't complain because I was happy to see there were a lot of people downtown, especially near Old Town.

If you're a fan of @sgj.bsky.social you're guaranteed to love this one.
If you wondered what it might be like to combine The Outsider by @stephenking.bsky.social with The Hitcher (1986 or 2007) & a little bit of Joy Ride (2001) tossed in for flavor, this is precisely what you would expect to find.

If you're attending KillerCon in Austin, TX next weekend, this is where you can find me Saturday afternoon and evening as well as Sunday morning.
I hope to see you there.

Whalefall by Daniel Kraus is one of the weirdest, most uncomfortable, and certainly one of the most unique stories to tackle the topics of grief, coming of age, and masculinity.
This is one fucking nightmarish, claustrophobic tale...definitely not one I'm likely to forget anytime soon.

My listens over the course of the last three months on Audible as well as the substantially smaller number of titles I've listened to on the Audiobooks-dot-com app over the last year.
It's still a bit strange to me that audiobooks have become how I consume around 60% of what I read anymore.
