Glory Nights: From Wankdorf to Wembley.

I don’t give a damn for the same old played out scenes.

Don’t confirm to formulas.

Just a bloke.
Blistering 32 mins after lunch at The Oval yesterday, when Surrey took 5 wickets, with stumps flying and brilliant catches.

Set-them up for an excellent win before the football even kicked-off.

Lucky it is a home game against the worst team to play in the top flight for over 30 years tomorrow.

Although if we don’t win, his gaslighting post-match will reach new levels.

After yesterday’s presser giving his views on mobile phones, maybe will hear why tarrifs are a good thing on Wed.

Good thing Goalhanger haven’t had a ‘The Rest is THFC’ podcast this season.

Overrun and outnumbered in all areas last night.

Looked clueless, with no direction or gameplan.

In keeping with the relegation form which has stretched for more than 50 league games, while we are routinely outplayed in long spells, inc by Coventry & Qurabag.

Back to see the same excuses.

Enjoyed Brentford away on Sunday.

Now properly looking forward to being in the away end at Liverpool.

Up the Spurs.

At a funeral yesterday, I was privileged to be shown a whole set of original photos taken at the post-1981 FA Cup Final party.

While I wasn’t able to confirm the name of the actual photographer, I was given to take some digital photos of them and share them, including this one.

Before watching The Directors (Sky Arts) David Lynch episode, flicked on to the second half of the relegation clash between Man Utd and Southampton.

Reminded me to check the odds for the Europa League. The quality ain’t no UEFA Cup…

Proud to be in an away end last night that recognised the hostages taken by Hamas.

The home fans that mocked also cheer their lads in their terrorist tracksuits and away kit.

We see lots of opinion polls on here but surely @luketryl.bsky.social could evidence we all have more in common by asking who we think of when we hear a football commentator say the name “O’Reilly”.

That’s more like it.

Up the Spurs.

I know some of the criticisms of the BBC pandering to right-wingers are unjustified, but signing off their last Musk update with a kiss is a step too far.

Maybe the Brentford fans think he is getting the best he can out of the squad he has.

I used to like the Mark Lamarr radio shows on Christmas Day morning, mainly with blokes telling tales of proper rows with their old man and some great music thrown in.

Today’s current audio, instead, the remastered version of OK Computer.

Merry Christmas.

First time we conceded 6 at home in the league since Christian Gross but it could have been 10 and was totally predictable, with the kamikaze style play that leaves loads of space at the back and has led to 20 defeats in 42 matches.

Waste of a squad who’ll be sick of it themselves.

Elsewhere in the paper, Martin Samuel excellent on mediocre politicians suggesting clubs follow a failed model of Forest Green and dictate the make-up of season-ticket holders…

Also, on a coach: “If he’s so smart why has he got only one way of playing?”

And he nails Romero.

Leadership is about building on a set of values and founding principles, not stubborn one-eyed tribal ideology that fails to adapt, evolve or inspire.

On which note, brilliant piece by Alyson Rudd in today’s Sunday Times on #THFC.

Managed to get to see some international cricket in Hamilton, New Zealand, when I was there in 2017.

Didn’t realise it was bring your own seats in the General Admission area, but can’t complain as had already been to two vineyards for wine tasting before getting there.

Thoughts from outside the echo chamber.

And an increasingly common view amongst us paying punters.
