For example, my particular breast cancer (diagnosed & successfully treated at age 50) had no treatment options when I was 25.

"Pausing" research has far-reaching future effects along with the present-day effects, & none of them are good.
40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. 56% of Americans have someone in their immediate family who has been diagnosed with cancer.

In my lifetime, research has improved the % of people who can expect to live 5+ years after their diagnosis from 50% to 75%.
