No-one risks their life in the Channel in a flimsy boat unless they have no choice.

Labour’s cruel move to block refugees from citizenship — bypassing Parliament — shows a dangerous rightward shift, ditching human rights & international law.

It must be reversed.

The UK welcomes Ukrainians but shuts out Palestinians — even as UK-made weapons fuel their genocide.

Safe routes for some; moral panic and cruelty for others.

There’s a name for that: anti-Palestinian racism.

The government was right to welcome Ukrainian refugees fleeing war.

There is only one reason that people in Gaza, displaced by a genocide that our government abetted, are treated differently.

That reason is anti-Palestinian racism.

This past year was the deadliest year on record for journalists. Israel accounted for nearly 70% of the deaths.

At least 124 journalists in 18 countries were killed – with the Israeli military responsible for 85 of those deaths.

Yet more performative cruelty. This means someone who fled for their life 25 yrs ago, got refugee status in the UK, and has been part of their community here ever since - maybe married, had kids, started a business - can never be a citizen. That’s not right.

UK to reject 'dangerous journey' refugees citizenship
The Home Office change has been condemned by the Refugee Council and some Labour backbench MPs.

Trump's advocacy for ethnic cleansing in Gaza - while hosting a man wanted by the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity - must not be ignored by Labour.

The Government must defend international law, and reiterate Palestinians' right to self-determination.

The President of the United States welcome a leader wanted by the ICC and officially endorsed ethnic cleansing.

Now would be a good time for our government to defend international law.

If they won’t say it, we will: Palestinians aren’t going anywhere.

This is ethnic cleansing, plain and simple.

But will the UK government condemn this?

Trump talked about Gaza being the toughest place to live, Hell on earth, full of death and looking like a building site.

While the mass murdering war criminal responsible and wanted for making Gaza those very things, sat next to him smiling.

We live in a world of monsters

We spoke to Jean-Baptiste Gallopin, from Human Rights - who's worked on Sudanese political and security issues since 2010. He and his team were recently in the Nuba Mountains.

In 2018, the Prime Minister opposed a third runway at Heathrow.

Now, in the middle of a climate emergency, his government is backing it.

A complete U-turn at the expense of local communities and the planet.

Reckless, short-sighted and indefensible.

The Prime Minister shouldn’t be engaging — let alone reviewing arms sales — with someone that has an active ICC arrest warrant for war crimes.

As the ceasefire comes into effect and the Palestinian people return to nothing but rubble, now is not the time to be looking away from Gaza.

The occupation of Palestine must now end and all perpetrators of the genocide must be brought to justice.

Just back from watching Nosferatu. What a beautiful piece of gothic cinema.
I found it deeply unsettling in parts, the score really underpinning all the right moments. Glad I didn't wait for it to come out on TV before watching it, definitely worth a big screen.
