Good news. May the people of the state wake up and fight for democracy as hard as the Indiana football team found a way to beat Ohio State.

In a headline, no less.

Genealogy can only do so much with paternal lineage. Has he had a DNA test?

My first thought on seeing the photo from Tuesday, even though only the single-story 1942 annex was involved, was a flashback to the Murrah building the day of the OKC bombing. (Only we kept seeing the sheared off building for weeks as the search for victims continued.)

I think most of us failed to realize that the entire East Wing was going to be obliterated. Even yesterday I thought that only the 1942 add-on was being razed, perhaps for a more graceful entry into the new structure. But no, he lied PLUS skipping the steps required since 1961 for structural change.

I’m a firm believer in the separation of church and state. But I’d pretty much like Pope Leo to be President right now.

I’m a retired teacher still subbing—so I didn’t listen and can’t take the time now. But with just five minutes to scroll through reactions . . . I don’t think I can bear to watch later. Seems like this speech might be rock bottom—but I know there IS no bottom to the pit of presidential insanity.

Yes. And I have never felt so utterly helpless and pessimistic about our country in my life. And I’m “mid-century modern” years old.

I’m only sorry that after a summer filled with visiting grandchildren, we had decided we really needed to trim our streaming line-up, and had already cancelled last week. I’d have much rather sent them a message this week.

Very much the right thing to do. The USTA cannot forbid a President from attending, but should not be complicit in warning spectators against expressing feelings about someone who is trampling on our Constitution, our democracy, and foreign fishing boats.

Step One: pry the letters D-E-F-E-N-S-E straight off the wall.

Ah, no. Spouting lies for sure, but he is not under oath because Sen. Mike Crapo denied Sen. Wyden’s request to have him sworn in. Free to lie will with no fear of prosecution.

“God helps those who help themselves” —and cue up the old joke about the guy stranded on his roof in a flood who rejects help from a passing rowboat, a motorboat, and a helicopter. Then he drowns and asks God why He didn’t save him . . .

Sorry! I jumped to the article without reading your full intro. I live north of Seattle, visit the ONP several times every, and this fire has been in the news for many weeks now. So the mistake jumped out above all else.

I want to trust the Guardian. But they need to fix the extended headline. The Bear Gulch fire is in Washington state, not Oregon. (Stated correctly later in the story, but “big print” mistake.)

As part of the Elderly White Hippies brigade, I keep wondering if there’ll be an earlier moment that will move natl. sentiment as the bombing of Cambodia did for Vietnam. Sure, campus protests escalated instantly, but it was also the catalyst that changed many “mainstream” views, incl in Congress.

Who?

A simple lunch, perhaps, but it sounds pretty good to me. Since the luncheon was capriciously cancelled, I wonder who got to eat it all?

Can we at least get the notes this time?

We need a Marshall plan for Gaza. Airlift aid in, and if Netanyahu interferes in any way, it’s time for the varied international courts to drop the hammer on him for deliberate genocide.

Hard to summarize the damage, for sure, but dismantling USAID probably deserves specific mention on this list.

Clawbacks of congressionally-approved allocations aren’t fair, no matter what the original purpose was. But this marks one further step in the silencing of multiple sources of news and information. And apart from news, the sheer enrichment to young and old won’t be provided by for-profit channels.
