A sea of endless stars. 🌌

The brighter blue stars you see are foreground stars, just hundreds of light-years away. But the orange ones are part of this globular cluster - Liller 1. It is 26,000 light-years away, in the constellation Scorpius. 🔭 #space #milkyway #stellarastro

A cosmic David and Goliath, Bode's Galaxy (Messier 81, left) rips apart its satellite the Cigar Galaxy (Messier 82, right) with its powerful gravity, churning gases and triggering star formation on the latter. 🔭

Bursting like a splash of paint, the supernova remnant Cassiopeia A seen by the combined power of the Chandra and Webb telescopes. It was 11,000 light-years away, and its explosion would have been observed in the 1690s. 🔭 #space #milkyway #stellarastro

The Trifid Nebula (Messier 20) in the constellation Sagittarius. If the Heart Nebula looks like a symbolic heart, this one is more like an anatomical heart. 🔭 #milkyway #stellarastro

This is the famous Pinwheel Galaxy (Messier 101) in her full, flowing glory, about 21 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. 🔭 🧪 #space #extragalactic

Perhaps one of the most beautiful space photos I ever seen. This is the gorgeous galaxy Messier 94 in the constellation Canes Venatici, 16 million light-years away. 🔭 🧪 #space #extragalactic

The galaxy NeVe 1 has a supermassive black hole. And it's a messy eater. While consuming a dwarf galaxy, it unleashed a powerful burst of energy that is the most powerful AGN eruption ever recorded. The blue cloud 'radio emission in cavity' is the remains of the ordeal. 🔭 🧪

I just realized, maybe the first way to be positive is to say to myself "Yeah, I have made a lot of mistakes before, but I forgive myself and I can recover."

Potential overmassive black hole candidates in the SDSS survey. All of them are above 100 billion solar masses, and are far too extreme.

What do you think? If you are an expert, I would gladly receive any feedback on this. 🔭

This is not an abstract painting, but a mosaic of four images of the central regions of the Triangulum Galaxy taken in Hα light (in orange) and oxygen spectral light (in blue) by the SITELLE imaging Fourier transform spectrometer at the Canada–France–Hawaii Telescope. . 🔭 🧪 #extragalactic

This is Perun (G329.9−0.5), a supernova remnant that might be one of the youngest ones we know of. It is located at 6-9 kiloparsecs (19,000 to 29,000 light-years) from Earth within the Milky Way's Norma Arm, and is estimated to be less than 1,000 years old. 🔭 🧪 #milkyway #radioastronomy

Supernova SN Encore, an ancient type Ia supernova (white dwarf thermal runaway) imaged here by both Hubble and JWST gravitationally lensed by massive cluster MACS J0138.0−2155.

It happened 10.4 billion years ago, and it appeared on multiple lensing images too. 🔭 #cosmology #extragalactic
